DIXIE 2005 TOURNAMENT RULES

  1. The 2005 Dixie Invitational Bowling Tournament will be held by invitation over the weekend of March 24-27, 2005. The tournament is ABC/WIBC-sanctioned and will be conducted under their jurisdiction. Proof of ABC-WIBC membership must be provided by means of a current sanction card (or the entrant's receipt of sanction application). The tournament is also open to members of the FIQ. If any entrant is not a member of ABC or WIBC, he/she must pay a $5.00 ABC/WIBC participation fee and become concurrently subject to the ABC/WIBC rules and jurisdiction for the duration of the tournament.
  2. The tournament Co-Directors reserve the right to decline any team or individual application at their discretion. That team or individual will be notified prior to the start of the tournament and will be eligible for a refund of applicable fees. Dixie 2005 can accommodate a maximum of 360 bowlers.
  3. Applications for entry must be accompanied by full payment of fees. For mailed-in entries, certified checks and money orders only should be made payable to "Dixie 2005." CASH AND PERSONAL CHECKS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED!! If you choose to pay your Dixie 2005 entry online, your team entry application must be submitted online at www.dixiebowl.org and ALL team members must pay online using the Dixiebowl.org secure credit card payment system. Your team cannot pay partially online and partially via mailed certified checks and money orders. No exceptions will be allowed!
  4. The tournament events shall be handicap events and are: Singles, Doubles and Team. Optional Individual Scratch Divisions, Scratch Masters and a Thursday night No-Tap Tournament will also be offered. Each participant shall bowl three games per event and must enter all three events. Bowlers are permitted to bowl only one time in each event.
  5. Men and women will compete on an equal basis in each event. Teams and doubles partnerships may be made up of any combination of men and women. Teams will consist of four bowlers. EACH MEMBER OF A DOUBLES PAIR MUST BOWL ON THE SAME TEAM. Singles, doubles and team applications for entry will be accepted. Every effort will be made to complete partial team entries.
  6. Priority in team scheduling will be based on the order of entry postmark date(s) or complete online payment date(s). All efforts will be made to honor scheduling preferences; however, remember that if you are not entering a full team, your team shift scheduling will be based on the latest entry postmark date of all the members assigned to your team. Final scheduling is at the discretion of the tournament Co-Directors. Shift B will usually fill up first! Final scheduling will be confirmed as soon as possible after entry is accepted.
  7. The following will apply to entering averages:
    1. Five-pin and candle-pin averages cannot be used.
    2. For Dixie 2005 purposes only, the following qualifications will apply to ABC/WIBC-sanctioned leagues, FIQ-sanctioned leagues or IGBO leagues not sanctioned by ABC/WIBC.
    3. Bowler ten-pin averages (as either a rostered team member or as a team/league substitute) used to determine handicaps will be:
      1. The HIGHEST of any of the following: a qualified Fall league (minimum of 21 games) average as of 12/31/04 or the highest season-end average from a 2003-2004 qualified league (minimum 21 games). You must submit copies of league standing sheets AND a copy of your ABC/WIBC sanction card with your application. You also will be required to present your ABC/WIBC card at time of registration.
      2. If a bowler does not qualify under any of the above, an established average in a qualified league (minimum 21 games) as of February 28, 2005 may be used. Proof of average as described above must be submitted at time of registration.
      3. If no established average under any of the above conditions exists, a bowler must enter at a scratch average of 225.
  8. A bowler who has qualified for a prize of $300.00 or more in any event, including scratch events, in a tournament within the previous 12-month period must report the actual score(s), position(s) and amount(s) won to the tournament Co-Directors at the time of entry. This information along with IGBO database averages will be used for possible re-rating purposes. Such re-rating must be completed before entrant bowls. If the assigned average is not acceptable to the bowler, the entry fee shall be refunded. ABC rules 319C, 319D and 319E will be enforced regarding reporting of tournament winnings and tournament averages.
  9. Each bowler must submit verification of all averages existing under Tournament Rule 7.C. above. All leagues in which the bowler has 21 games are subject to this rule. Failure to use the proper average will disqualify the scores if the submitted average is lower than the actual average. The entering average of any bowler may be adjusted by the tournament Co-Directors before tournament bowling begins upon consultation with the local bowling association of the bowler in question.
  10. No PBA or PWBA members are permitted to enter the tournament.

In case of injury, ABC/WIBC rules shall apply. All average verifications shall be provided to tournament officials at that time.
  13. It is solely and entirely the bowler's responsibility to be present at the assigned lanes at the time of bowling.
